Doctrine on Hell

I know the doctrine we have with regards to out of darkness but physically how exactly is hell like I would like to know.  Does anyone has any quotes or references?

I can't say how hell is like because I have never been there and I hope not to reach that place anytime soon  :D however, in my own personal perspective it's not how most religions portrait it (hot, etc) but a place where people who thought alike and who committed similar sins are all gather together and because of the kind of things they have done they're not able to tolerate "light".
