I don't believe in the infallibility of prophets. Also you compare everything to the Bible which is good but as lds people we also believe in other books of scripture as well as modern revelation. But I understand what you're saying, what I am trying to say is not everything a prophet speaks is considered doctrine.

Admin----

OK--thanks--understood.  Is it OK if I ask lds questions from time to time?  I mean,
if I am not being controversial, is it OK to post on another thread?  Just want to make
sure I follow the rules.

Brick, what the Admin tried to say is that you can ask the lds related questions on the board for non-members:

So, if I have Christian related questions should I go to the non-Christian board?   Wink

What is so hard to understand about take all your questions, rants and whatever else to the "I'm Not A Mormon" Board, or do you insist on trying to run this place for yourself? Do not answer that, just show you understand by posting in that Board only. Thanks for your co-operation in this matter.

This is of course a touchy topic.   Even Pres.  Joseph Fielding Smith suggested we forget about this topic.   However, Pres.  B. Young talked very plainly about this.   Said he in a sermon delivered on April 9, 1852:  Now hear it, O inhabitants of the earth, Jew and Gentile, Saint and sinner!  When our father Adam came into the garden of Eden, he came into it with a celestial body , and brought Eve, one of his wives, with him.

So, when Pres.  B. Young started out with "Now hear it, . . . is not the voice of uncertainty, but spoken as one having authority.   President Smith states that Pres.  Young was not properly quoted, which makes no sense as this talk was given in a full tabernacle.   The disagreement between the two is not that of the fact that Adam and Eve were created on another earth, but more over the fact that Pres.  Young sees Adam as God the Father and above Jesus while Pres.  Smith sees Jesus above Adam and does not see Adam as the heavenly Father but as a person that reached Godhood.   Big Big difference.   The earlier endowmend sessions clearly identify Adam as God the Father as did Heber C.  Kimball, John Taylor, W. Woodruff, Orson Pratt etc etc.     To me this whole issues is clearly embarresing to our move towards more acceptable Christianity.   Like becoming part of the rest of the Christian world.

Brick said:

"Read the definition of a "prophet" in the Old testament of the Bible.   If everything he
says comes true, he is a prophet, if one thing fails, he is a false prophet, and he is to be stoned to death.   Joseph actually should have been stoned before he got shot. "

Actually, that's not true.   The Bible never says that.   Maybe Brick is the one who should be stoned.

As for perfect prophets, Moses was not permitted to enter into the promised land because something he did had displeased the Lord.   The Lord called Jonah on a mission, and Jonah headed for parts unknown.   John the Revelator worshiped an angel.   Isaiah prophesied that Jesus' name would be called "wonderful," but instead it was called Jesus.   Was Isaiah a false prophet?

And the Prophet Joseph Smith never said that Jesus was the son of Adam.   That's a good example of why non-Mormons are not permitted on this site.
