It's just plain evil, there is nothing good in them at all.
I have never watched an R- rated movie, and I never will. The prophts have told us not to because of all the vile content in them.
this sounds like "utah mormon" knee jerk reaction responses. its pretty extreme to say that there is no good at all in them. what about "the passion" that is the first one that comes to mind but i'm sure there are other r-rated movies with some positive messages. i'm not suggesting its ok to watch them or that there aren't r-rated movies that are complete trash, but you shouldn't lump all of them together.

Schindler's List comes to my mind, what a movie! I think we should use common sense and try to watch movies that can be both entertaining and edifying.

As a general rule, I think that R rated movies should be avoided, but there may be exceptions.  One R-rated movie that I would whole-heartedly recommend to any member of the Church is "The Passion."  I suspect that the only reason it was rated R was because it dealt with a religious theme and the movie industry didn't like that.

Nah, it was rated R because there is so much blood on it and violence. For me, it all depends on the movie you know what I am saying? There is no black or white answer on this.

I see a lot of blood and violence in other movies that are not rated R, so I doubt whether that was really the issue.  But, like I say, generally speaking, I think that R-rated movies should probably be avoided, but there may be exceptions to the general rule, such as The Passion.
