Mormon Doctrine "Don't try to tear down other people's religion about their ears, Build up your own perfect structure of truth, and invite your listeners to enter in and enjoy it's glories." -- Brigham Young

So what do you exactly mean by "preside" over if you are already married?

Maybe I should have used the word "rule"--our parents, if they are exalted, will reign over us as King and Queen, and we will be a part of their Kingdom, just as if we are exalted, then we will reign as Kings and Queens over our own posterity, and they shall eternally be a part of our kingdoms.  Thus, if my father and all of my brothers and I were all exalted, then we would all be Kings and Priests, and my father would be a King of Kings.

Comments: My parents were very abusive and died as temple workers. I can't picture them ruling or reigning over me. Somehow the kingdom concept is just to help understand the importance of certain people with our limited understanding of eternity.

Comments: When one uses the words king rule and talk of kingdoms, of course he isnt refering to lord of the ring tpe of refrences.. rather its a preisthood ruling, or in other words acts of service.
when talking about sealing in the temple we are not just sealing ourselves to our parents but as stated earlier we are sealing ourselves to the celestial family. Which is based on preisthood leadership. and when talking about being kings and ruler I do not believe that it is only talking about ruling over our family from our heavenly father but also over our future spirit children that we will create if we become exalted with a spouse

Thank goodness for the principle of repentance!  Given an eternity of progress, and with the help of the Father and the Son, does it seem possible that even your parents could progress to the point where they were perfect?  Can you picture perfect beings ruling over you?

Of course, you are welcome to your own opinion, but as the Prophet Joseph Smith said, I assume that the scriptures say what they mean and mean what they say.  When we undertake to assume otherwise, we let go of the iron rod and begin to wander in the mists of darkness, just as the fundamentalists are doing.
